An elderly man was killed being hit by a dustcarttruck of Dhaka South City Corporation in front of Rajdhani Super Market under Wari police station in Old Dhaka Thursday morning.

The deceased, Swapan Kumar Sarkar, 62, a resident of Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria, used to live in Gandaria area in Dhaka.

Wari police sub-inspector Ujjal Hossain said that the accident took place at about 7:00am.

The body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations, the SI said, adding that the driver of the dustcart managed to escape with the dust truck after the accident.

Police were trying to detect the vehicle and arrest its driver, he added.

Earlier, Nayeem Hasan, a student of Notre Dame College, was killed being hit by a Dhaka South City Corporation dustcart in front of Gulistan Hall Market on November 24.

The next day, another man named Kabir Khan was killed being hit by a DNCC dustcart in Panthapath area.

Both the drivers were arrested after the accidents.
